Elections will take just over an hour and we will then count and announce the
results. We have the place till 11pm so we'll crack some music and have a few
celebratory drinks afterwards!
We feel Pulse Radio injects a whole world of fun into LSE's campus and this
is true inside the station too. So many people say how getting involved has
massively improved uni for them and while aiming to be professional,
entertaining and informative, we always make sure we have fun while doing it.
So give it a go and get involved, or at least come have your say on Monday
night.

____________
NOMINATION & PROXY VOTING DEADLINES
Nominations for positions have to be emailed to pulse_radio@lse.ac.uk by
Monday midday. The email should include your name and the position you wish
to run for.
Whoever elected will hold the position until next February (unless they step
down before then), so final year students shouldn't apply as they will have
graduated. Also, whoever gets elected will receive a full handover to get
them up to speed on their role.
Any LSE student can run for a position, however only those on the production
group can vote.
If you are unable to make the election itself and still want to run you can
send a manifesto and someone can read it out.
Equally, if you can't make the election but want to vote, you can proxy vote.
To do this, pick a member of the production group to vote for you (be your
proxy) and either tell them who you are voting for or let them decide on your
behalf. You need to email pulse_radio@lse.ac.uk by 5pm Monday saying who your
proxy is (but don't tell us who you are voting for)
One person can hold no more than 2 proxies, so check with them first and a
candidate list will be sent out at midday on Monday.

_________
POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Deputy Station Manager
The reason for resurrecting this role is that there is still huge potential
to grow Pulse even further than we have over the last two years. Having extra
energy and ideas put into the station will make sure we maintain the
professional programming we have achieved this year, while continuing to
expand into new areas and continue to improve!
The job: As with the Station Manager, you will be taught how the whole
station runs and have a crucial role in deciding on Pulse's direction and
style. A heavy focus is on our marketing, events and sponsorship elements,
however you will be expected to get your hands into every part to back up and
influence the Station Manager.
You'll even get your own set of keys!
Head of Programming
You will be responsible for choosing what programmes get on air. The role
will involve reviewing shows throughout the year and ensuring we have great
quality programmes with interesting/fun/cool/quirky content. You will also
have a great deal of independence about what our schedule will look like.
Head of Music
You will be in charge of creating the Pulse Radio music playlist, which is
broadcast during the day on a daily basis. You will be in charge of our
musical direction, and should have a very broad music taste, which
appreciates both old and new bands/producers. You also have the opportunity
to run the Pulse radio Music Team, who are responsible for reviewing new
bands and putting them up on our website. This includes loads of free tickets
to gigs!
Head of News
We are very proud of our high quality news content, and we want the best
candidates this year. You will be responsible for producing our weekday news
feeds, which are on the hour, every hour. You will run our News team, who
will help you with finding interesting information from around the Student
Union. We are looking into expanding our SU sports coverage! You will have
lots of support rest assured. We won't throw you in the deep end and there is
already a fully trained news team in place until the end of term so you can
find your feet.
Head of Marketing
You will make Pulse noticeable and recognisable about campus! You will make
posters and other marketing materials, and have a direct voice in the image
of Pulse. Great if you want experience using Photoshop and html and other
arty software programmes.
Head of Communications
This is a fantastic social position. You will speak to the SU and the
Sabbatical officers, and get us benefits and advantages for the radio
station. In the past the head of Comms has negotiated the SU to put links to
Pulse radio on campus pcs, and we are close to playing in halls. Essentially,
get to know everyone around the SU and see how we can try out new ideas with
other parts of it.
Head of Business
Responsible for getting us sponsorship and preferable deals for the radio
station. If you are a people person then this is the role for you. In the
past we have had sponsorships from the likes of Bento Box, Milkround and
Bloomberg and we want to go even further this year. Sponsorships with NME?
Sponsorships with Vice Magazine? Cocopops? If you have some great ideas then
run for this position!
Head of Production
Know how to use music software, or want to learn how to? This position
involves making jingles and beds (music we talk over) for our radio shows. We
use a software Package called Ableton, and has a very quick learning curve.
Even if you don't have any experience we still want you to run! If you are
fun and imaginative then you will make some cracking jingles, yes sir.
Head of Events
This is great for people who have experience running events in the past, or
want to have a shot at it. We have a reputation for putting on some jolly
good parties, and we want to have some more next term. You will arrange at
least one party in Michaelmas term so all our DJs and friends can let our
hair down, and have a cheeky snakebite and ensure Pulse stays sociable and
fun!
