Prince Harry to appear at BRIT Awards 2010

Prince Harry is set to become the first member of the Royal Family to make an appearance at the Brit Awards. The youngest son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana will deliver a video message at the event, which is to be held on February 16. "The BRITs is a celebration of all that is totally outstanding and unique about British music," he says in the video, "What’s less well known about the BRIT Awards is the fantastic work it does raising millions of pounds for the BRIT Trust, which has benefited thousands of young people to develop their talents and generally enrich our society."

The clip is to be aired at the Earls Court venue in London and on television broadcasts of the ceremony. Lilly Allen, Lady Gaga, La Roux, Robbie Williams and Florence and the Machine are among the acts nominated for BRIT awards this year.

Matthew Horne to star in BBC Boy George drama

Gavin and Stacey star Matthew Horne is to star in a new BBC Two drama about the life former Culture Club singer Boy George. The 90-minute drama, entitled Worried About the Boy will focus on how Boy George - real name George O'Dowd - went from a cloakroom attendant to a cultural superstar. Horne will play the band's drummer, Jon Moss, who famously had a relationship with the pop star. Marc Warren, who has starred in TV series Hustle, and Mark Gattis, from The League of Gentlemen, are also set to appear alongside newcomer Douglas Booth, who will play the role of Boy George himself. Gattis has landed the role of music impersario Malcolm McLaren whilst Warren will play nightclub pioneer Steve Strange.

Whilst growing up in south - east London, Boy George recognised that he was different to other young men of a similar age. He was set apart by his love for clothes, make up and music. Culture Club had a string of hits including Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? and became one of the biggest and most successful bands of their day. George has battled with heroin addiction and in 2006 was handed US community service for falsely reporting burglary at his flat. Last year, he served four months in prison for assault. Despite his setbacks, Boy George has launched a successful solo career as a singer and DJ.
